Domain Modification

In order to change the registrant of an .AT domain you have to complete the following steps:

  • Request a trade for the domain in our system with the TradeDomain command.
command       = TradeDomain
domain        =
ownercontact0 = (new owner-contact)

The owner change will be processed by our system within 1-2 days. The registration period will not be affected. Trade requests expire after 10 days.

Domain Renewal

As .AT domains can only be registered on a yearly basis, they cannot be renewed explicitly. To renew an .AT domain you have to set the domain renewal mode or default renewal mode to "AUTORENEW" or "RENEWONCE".

Deletion Process

.AT Domains can be deleted online through the webinterfac or corresponding API command.

command = DeleteDomain
domain  =
Attention.png For most TLDs there is no difference between AUTODELETE and AUTOEXPIRE. But there is a difference for .AT domain names. If an .AT domain name is set to AUTOEXPIRE the invoice recipient will be changed to the owner at the registry (billwithdraw). In this case the owner will receive an invoice and has to pay the registry for a renewal. If an .AT domain is set to AUTODELETE it will be deleted at the registry.

  • min. 2 / max. 8 nameservers
  • P.O. box not allowed as owner address
  • No other restrictions

Please take note that new policies will apply from April 15th 2015 in reference to an EU-Customerpolicy.
It regulates, among other consumer-information requirements for Electronic Contracts.
In Austria it is regulated in Konsumentenschutzgesetz (KSchG) and Fern- and Auswärtsgeschäfte-Gesetz (FAGG), in other EU-Countries in their national law.
This right applies to all individuals who are holders of an .AT domain, regardless of their country of origin.
Because according to austrian law by registering an .AT Domain a contract comes between Domain-Holder and

The customer needs to be fully informed about the product, the price, conditions, suppliers etc. before, during and after the order as well as there need to be information about his right to withdraw.

You can find all changes here!

.AT Transfers are possible. Please note that when a .AT Domain is transferred successfully, the remaining registration period is kept. The domains will not be extended by one year.

Transfer procedure

You can initiate a .AT domain transfer either through the RRPproxy WebInterface or API.

  • Transfer request + AuthInfo = Standard process immediate transfer!
    A transfer request containing an AuthInfo will be processed immediately.
command = TransferDomain
domain  =
auth    = …
action  = Request
code = 200
description = Command completed successfully
queuetime = 0
runtime = 1.634
property[transfer status][0] = SUCCESS
  • Transfer request WITHOUT AuthInfo = Emergency Processes
    Only in special cases.
command              = TransferDomain
domain               =
action               = Request
x-at-requestauthcode = 1
code = 200
description = Command completed successfully; TOKEN REQUESTED
queuetime = 0
runtime = 2.817
property[info][0] = Auth code sent to owner, please submit your request including the auth code

Transfer notes

The authInfo will need to have at least eight characters consisting of one number, one alphabet and one special character.

Standard process

In the standard AuthInfo process the domain holder who wants to change the registrar, requests an AuthInfo from the losing registrar and forwards it to the new registrar. By sending a transfer request containing the AuthInfo, the new registrar takes over the domain. The transfer is processed immediately

If the AuthInfo standard procedure does not work, there are two emergency methods for these special cases. The special case token-request and the Emergency-process if the domain holder's e-mail address is not working. If the Emergency-process is required, please contact

Token-request for a domain transfer

The new registrar requests a token by sending an EPP transfer command where the AuthInfo field does not contain a value. sends a token code to the e-mail address of the domain holder. This token is valid for 21 days and is only valid for this specific registrar. The domain holder will have to forward the token code to the new registrar. The new registrar will then send a transfer request containing the token code he has received from the holder. The transfer is processed within approximately 5 minutes.

Transfer Time

A transfer is done immediately.

Restores are possible within 59 days after deletion if the domain was deleted explicitly with the DeleteDomain command or set to "AUTODELETE".

Restores are not possible if the domain was set to "AUTOEXPIRE" or was pushed back to the registry with the PushDomain command.

A restore for a deleted domain can be requested via API command or via webinterface.

command = restoredomain
domain  =

Please note: The restore request will be manually processed by our support team. You will be notified by email.
