Tightened NIF verification as of April 21, 9:00 UTC

The .ES Registry has informed us about the date from which the tightened verification process for Spanish contact handles (applies to contacts for organizations / legal persons from Spain) comes into effect: As of April 21, 9:00 UTC such contacts will be rejected if the NIF is missing or incorrect.

Please be already aware of the next steps within the contact verification process by the registry.

  • September 2015: Contacts can be modified as in the past months. You will receive a CSV file from Key-Systems and you can correct the NIF for the given domains via the web interface.
  • October 2015: Red.ES will contact the registrants whose data has not been changed so far to inform them of their obligation to correct the data. Similarly it will be indicated that Red.ES will start a cancellation procedure of the domain names with incorrect data in November. This cancellation procedure applies to domains where the registrant is a Spanish legal entity.
  • November 2015: Red.ES will start a cancellation process for domains still containing invalid owner contact data for Spanish legal entities.

Please also see our announcements in the RRPproxy Newsletter #2015-08 and #2015-11 as well.

General Information

.ES contact validation now simplified with a web interface

In newsletter 2014-31 we informed you about the verification process for existing .ES contacts by the Spanish registry.

Currently, the Dominios.es Data Depuration Project for existing contacts is in a Pilot Stage that is expected to end in September 2014. At the beginning the domain owner data of legal persons from Spain whose identification number did not pass a NIF validation test are checked.

We simplified the contact validation process through the installation of a web interface. NIFs already submitted by e-mail as a correction are taken into account. The new process is as follows:

  • RRPproxy receives a monthly list by the .ES registry. This list contains .ES domains with incorrect holder data, particularly with incorrect domain holder identifiers (NIF).
  • We inform the respective resellers by e-mail about the existence of incorrect registry data (Subject: ".ES domain owner contact verification process")
  • In the FTP area of the RRPproxy web interface a CSV file is provided in the folder "escontactverification". The file includes the data of the contact handles queried by the registry.
  • To correct the file the corrected NIF can be submitted through a web interface reachable via http://es.emailverification.info/. For this purpose the second column of the csv file ("CODE") includes a unique authentification code. When you enter this code in the web interface, the contact data will be shown and the related NIF can be submitted.
  • You may either fill in the data by yourself or send the respective auth codes and the link to the web interface to your customers.

Please correct the NIF data within the time-frame stated in the notification e-mail. Afterwards, we will submit the corrected data to the registry for validation and will be informed of the results. If necessary, we will receive the file once more with the data that remain to be offset from the original file in order to start the process as described above again.

Domain Modification

Trade

The below steps need to be processed in order to change the registrant of an .ES domain

Please note:
as red.es now checks the ID card number of the admin contact, a new step is required:

Create a NEW contact handle for the admin contact and set this contact as new admin contact for the domain

[COMMAND]
(required)
command                        = modifydomain
domain                         = domain.es
admincontact0                  = P-XXXXX
X-ES-ADMIN-TIPO-IDENTIFICACION = 0 | 1 | 3
X-ES-ADMIN-IDENTIFICACION      = ......
X-ES-ADMIN-LEGALFORM           = ......

EOF
  • X-ES-ADMIN-TIPO-IDENTIFICACION:
    • 0 = other (for contacts outside Spain)

In this case you should indicate “Others” as type of Identification Document and include the passport number. Please remember that, in the event that the User may request a change of registrant, they should sign it with the copy of their passport.)
  • Request the login details from your customer for the admin contact of the domain at the registry webinterface.

or, if not available

  • Perform a WhoIs request at the NIC to receive the contact handle name (Identificador) of the admin contact (PERSONA DE CONTACTO ADMINISTRATIVO) https://www.nic.es/index.action

  • Request the password from the holder of the domain for the admin contact's handle

  • Please request a trade for the domain in our system, stating the new holder and new admin contact (please see example below)
[COMMAND]
(required)
command                        = TradeDomain
domain                         = yourdomain.es
ownercontact0                  = [new holder handle, e.g. P-XXX123]
admincontact0                  = [new admin handle, e.g. P-XXX123]
X-ES-OWNER-TIPO-IDENTIFICACION = 0 | 1 | 3

EOF

As a response you will receive the NIC handle for the new holder and new admin contact which is necessary to start the registrant transfer in the web- interface of the registry.

  • Once you are logged in the webinterface click on "Solicitud Transmisión de dominio" (Domain Transfer Request)

    • Enter the domain name
    • Enter the new owner contact handle "Titular nuevo"
    • Enter the new admin contact handle "PCA nuevo"
    • Enter the captcha and press "Continuar"
    • (next page)
    • Press "Tramitacion si DNIe Certificado ..."
    • Enter the path to the ID / Passport copy from the current admin contact of the domain and press "Finalizar solicitud"
Attention.png Please note, the file has to be a .JPG with max. 2MB and max. 600px

  • The new admin contact will receive an email from the registry enabling him to confirm or cancel the transfer request after he logged in to the webinterface of the registry.
    • If the request is approved it must be confirmed by going to the link which appears in the email. Please note, to access the confirmation form the admin contact must be logged into the NIC web interface.
    • To redeem the login credentials please see above.
    • Once the transfer request has been accepted, the web interface will display the content of the request so that the information entered can be checked and the request can be signed by uploading a copy of the ID card or passport.
    • Press "Tramitación sin DNIe/Certificado (Debe adjuntar fotocopia de su documento de identidad)"
    • Once the transfer has been confirmed a form will appear "New registrant's conditions acceptance" on which new contacts and DNS and other parameters can be entered. With the exception of "Accredited Registrar" which must be set to "KEY-SYSTEMS", please do not change anything else as this may cause un-synchronicity to the RRPproxy system.
    • After you have chosen "KEY-SYSTEMS" as registrar please click "Next".
    • Once the document has been signed a screen will appear showing a summary of the request and there will be a change of status.
  • After the trade has been approved by the current admin contact and the new admin contact the change of registrant needs to be confirmed by Key-Systems, acting as old and new registrar.

Domain Renewal

.ES domains can be renewed through the webinterface or with the corresponding API command.

[COMMAND]
(required)
command    = RenewDomain
domain     = yourdomain.es
period     = [renew period | 1,2,3,4,5,10 years]
expiration = [current year of expiration]

EOF

Deletion Process

.ES Domains can be deleted online through the Delete Command.

[COMMAND]
(required)
command = DeleteDomain
domain  = ...... .es

EOF

The procedure is as follows:

  • The deletion is initiated through our system.
  • The Admin-C (PCA) receives an email from the registry with 2 links (Approve/Cancel) where he is asked to approve the deletion.
  • The Admin-C has 10 days time to approve or cancel the deletion.

Restrictions

  • Admin-, Tech- and Billing- contact have to be a natural person
  • Since 2010 it is no longer possible to change the contact information of the domain holder trough a registrar. The domain holder has to login at the registry with his NIC handle (can be found in whois information). The password can be recovered here -> https://www.nic.es/sgnd/contacto/passRecoverInicializar.action?tContacto.nic. The domain holder will then receive an email with his credentials.
  • You can find a list of all blocked domain names here Red.ES If you like to register one of those domains please contact us.
  • You can state between 2 and 7 nameservers
  • The email address of the domain holder and admin contact can only be changed by the respective contact at the registry directly.

Transfers

Domain Transfers are possible. The domain is not renewed upon a successful transfer, so the expiration date of the domain will stay the same.

Transfer procedure

  • Request the transfer through our system.
[COMMAND]
(required)
command = TransferDomain
domain  = ...... .es
action  = request
