Community Landrush

Period During community landrushperiod, special considerations will be provided to allow the spa community to register names corresponding to their existing operations and brands. This will be introduced in addition to and consistent with the standard Sunrise, Trademark Clearing House and Trademark claims requirements according to the Applicant Guidebook and Specification 7 of the New gTLD Registry Agreement.

More specifically, to be eligible for community sunrise as a community member, the registrant must be able to provide information demonstrating that they have:

  1. A valid operating license, where applicable;
  2. A spa, beauty or wellness certification, where applicable;
  3. A valid business registration;
  4. A membership with any spa or wellness industry association;
  5. A declaration that the domain will be used for the promotion of spas and wellness related products or services.

For community organizations, such as spa associations, to be eligible, the registrant must be able to provide information substantiating that they have:

  1. A valid entity registration, or equivalent;
  2. Proof that the organization accepts members from the spa and wellness community; and,
  3. A declaration that the domain will be used for the promotion of the spa and wellness community

For non spa and wellness related coincidental communities registration type such as Town of Spa in Belgium as well as the Italian Chambers of Commerce who is responsible for “Società Per Azioni” (i.e. S.p.A.) registrations, the following information is required:

  1. A valid entity business registration, or equivalent;
  2. Director/Owner proof of identity
  3. Address proof e.g. utility bill with address in Town of Spa or Italy

Requirements for .GA

As .SPA is a community TLD, registration for .SPA TLD will be subjected to the registration policy clause

4 - Eligibility Criteria for Domain Names:

4.1 Community Mandatory Guideline To be eligible for .SPA domain, the registrant must be able to provide information demonstrating that they have any of the following:

  • An applicant in this category must be a commercial or trading company with a valid business registration certificate
  • A membership with any spa or wellness industry association;
  • A declaration that the domain will be used for the promotion of spas and wellness related products or services.
  • A valid operating license, where applicable;
  • A spa, beauty or wellness certification, where applicable;

4.2 Coincidental Community Guideline For non spa and wellness related coincidental communities registration type such as Town of Spa in Belgium as well as the Italian Chambers of Commerce who is responsible for “Società Per Azioni” (i.e. S.p.A.) registrations, and any abbreviation which may form the word “SPA”, any of the following information is required:

  • An applicant in this category should provide a valid entity business registration, or equivalent;
  • Director/Owner proof of identity
  • required to furnish address proof e.g. utility bill with address

4.3 Individual Community Members must provide any of the following:

  • An applicant in this category must provide proof of identity which may include identification card copy, passport copy.
  • A declaration that the domain will be used for the promotion of spas and wellness related products or services.
  • A valid operating license, where applicable;
  • A spa, beauty or wellness certification, where applicable; Note that no proof of documentation is required during registration, but the registry implements post registration check and would request for supporting documents /proof of eligibility as and when deemed necessary.

Transfer procedure

  • The transfer is submitted to the registry and the losing registrar is automatically notified by them.
  • The losing registrar sends an email to the owner (and optionally admin) contact, informing about the transfer; this may include options to approve and/or deny the transfer. If neither explicitly approved nor denied, the transfer will be automatically finalized after 5 days.

Transfer notes

  • A .spa domain transfer must be initiated with a so-called authorisation code, (auth-code) which can be obtained from the current registrar through the owner/admin contact of the domain.
  • Ensure that your respective domain does not have a lock-status (clientTransferProhibited and/or serverTransferProhibited). This can be seen in WHOIS.
  • If the domain has a client-side transfer lock, the owner can ask the current registrar to have the lock removed.
